Brian was diagnosed with TSC as a young child, which caused seizures throughout his childhood until the correct medication and dosage were found. Brian had a learning disability when he entered school, making navigating educational challenges difficult. Brian was seizure-free for more than 13 years, but after graduating high school, he had his first breakthrough grand mal seizure during a very difficult time of his life. He went through many medication adjustments and had multiple seizures over a few years, most occurring in his sleep. In the last few years, he has had medication adjustments that resulted in adverse effects. Now Brian is on the correct medication and dosage and has been seizure-free for more than two years.
“TSC is a headache and has given my family and me more than what we could ever have imagined but, I’m still here and standing in one piece. As long as I’m still here, I’m not giving up.”
