By bringing together researchers from different disciplines and representing basic, translational, and clinical science, TSC Alliance-hosted research conferences provide a truly unique space to foster collaborations, spark new ideas and come together to tackle the most challenging aspects of this disease. For trainees in my lab, the conference allows them to hear from people from across the TSC community, which provides new insights that influence their own focus area. Furthermore, allowing early career researchers the opportunity to present their work, seek advice from leading TSC experts from around the world, and interact with families affected will hopefully inspire them to continue working in TSC throughout their career.”
Rebecca Ihrie, PhD, Associate Professor, Cell & Developmental Biology and Neurological Surgery, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
The TSC Alliance hosts an International TSC Research Conference every other year to stimulate collaborative research to address unmet medical needs of those affected by TSC and related disorders, including autism, epilepsy, lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), cancer and other rare diseases with overlapping phenotypes.
