A group of early-career researchers held the Second Early-Stage Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Researcher Meeting on June 21, 2017, the day before the International Research Conference on TSC and LAM: Innovating Through Partnerships. The meeting provided a forum for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty to meet each other, present their research, and hear career advice from established investigators. Hope Northrup, MD and David Kwiatkowski, MD, PhD gave keynote addresses, and Carmen Priolo, MD, PhD; Jamie Capal, MD; and William Stanford, PhD sat on the career development panel.
The organizers of the meeting were Angela Peron, MD; Brian Siroky, PhD; Nicola Alesi, MD; Charilaos Filippakis, PhD; and Krinio Giannikou, PhD. The group received funding to hold this event from John Bissler, MD; Elizabeth Henske, MD; David Kwiatkowski, MD, PhD; the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases; and the TSC Alliance.
