The American Epilepsy Society is offering several funding opportunities for early career researchers:
- The Susan Spencer Clinical Research Training Fellowship in Epilepsy: $150,000 over 2 years for patient-oriented research. Applications must be submitted in their entirety prior to October 1, 2018. Applicants must submit their research plan and biosketch in advance with sufficient time allotted for additional materials to be submitted by their chair, mentor, and references. This award is administered by American Academy of Neurology and jointly supported by the American Epilepsy Society, Epilepsy Foundation, and American Brain Foundation.
- Early Career Funding available for one-year grants in any fields of epilepsy research. Letters of intent due December 20 with full proposals due January 31, 2019. These awards are funded by the American Epilepsy Society and non-profit partners including the Epilepsy Foundation, Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation, Wishes for Elliott, Ring14 USA, and other partners.
- Predoctoral Research Fellowships – $30,000
- Postdoctoral Research Fellowships – $50,000
- Research & Training Fellowships for Clinicians – $50,000
- Junior Investigator Awards – $50,000
- Epilepsy Study Consortium mini-grant: $15,000 for one year for Epilepsy Fellows, with no minimum time requirement. These awards are intended to foster research on anti-epileptic drugs and to motivate fellows to undertake research projects during their training. Full proposals due January 31, 2019.
