Brynleigh was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) at 9 1/2 months when she began having complex partial seizures. After an EEG, brain MRI, cardiac scans, an abdominal ultrasound, skin check and genetic testing, they confirmed her diagnosis of TSC1. She has epilepsy, autism and TSC-associated neuropsychiatric disorders (TAND). Brynleigh had laser ablation surgery to reduce her seizures right before her third birthday. Brynleigh is currently in third grade and has an IEP. She receives OT, PT, Speech and Music therapies.
Brynleigh is a happy girl who loves music, and all things Disney, riding on her therapy horse and adaptive bike, swinging at the park and playing with her younger sister, Kaelyn. Both girls enjoy trips to the beach and amusement parks!
We have hope that Brynleigh will continue to learn and grow, making progress towards her goals. We hope that she can be the best, for who she is at each stage in life. We hope that she will be included in her community and be accepted. We have hope for new TSC treatments, and we BELIEVE in a cure in her lifetime! Brynleigh is always saying that she will “try her best” each day. She is a brave little girl who continues to work hard even in the face of adversity and her complex medical journey.
